Yes/No?

I always have this rebellious feeling when people "boss" me to do things that I didn't like or didn't volunteer for. Either I take my own sweet time to complete the tasks or simply ignore them. I don't think it is a good behaviour, however, unless I master the skills to say "No" firmly and confidently, I will continue to take this cowardly approach. It feels strange not knowing how to say "No" when I used to teach teenagers how to say "No" to smoking. Maybe is not so much of not knowing how to say it but rather feeling obligated to say "Yes" and regret thereafter.

I so know what you mean. Sometimes it just gets to me as well... I always ask myself 'Why should I do this when it's not something that I have volunteered for'?
But u know what... I have come to accept that I am not always in control of what I want to do. Sometimes, when I try to explain, people think that I am just trying to be 'lazy'... Maybe it's a Singaporean thing... people rather complain instead of say 'No' when we are asked to do something. I have seen people who keep so quiet that others naturally assume that it's a 'yes'. afterall, isn't it stated somewhere 'Silence being agreement.' if only I know who said that... *aarrrggghhhhh*
Sweetie, if you are asked before being given something to do.. just say NO.. if you were not asked but thrusted into something, take it as a challenge and just get it done. But do let the other party know of your displeasure and that u will appreciate it if you were consulted on the matter first. Clever people do get the message.
